BibleGate Quiz System Explained: How to Earn More Screen Time

March 23, 2026

Quizzes are the primary way you earn minutes in BibleGate's Time Bank. After reading a chapter, you answer a short quiz to test your comprehension — and your score determines how many minutes you add to your balance.

Here's how the entire system works.

How Quizzes Work

After you finish reading a chapter and meet the required reading time, you can take a 3-question quiz. The questions are generated based on the chapter you just read, so they're always relevant to what you've been engaging with.

You need to get at least 1 out of 3 correct to earn any points. Get all three right and you unlock a perfect score bonus.

Difficulty Levels and Scoring

You choose your difficulty before each quiz. Higher difficulty means harder questions — but significantly better rewards.

Easy

  • 5 minutes per correct answer
  • Perfect score bonus: +10 minutes
  • Maximum per quiz: 25 minutes

Medium

  • 7 minutes per correct answer
  • Perfect score bonus: +15 minutes
  • Maximum per quiz: 36 minutes

Hard

  • 10 minutes per correct answer
  • Perfect score bonus: +20 minutes
  • Maximum per quiz: 50 minutes

The jump between difficulties is substantial. A perfect Hard quiz earns you double what a perfect Easy quiz does. If you're confident in your reading comprehension, Hard mode is the fastest way to build your Time Bank.

The 7-Day Cooldown

To keep the system fair, there's a 7-day cooldown per chapter and difficulty combination. Once you've earned points from a quiz — say, John chapter 3 on Medium — you'll need to wait a week before you can earn from that same combo again.

Here's what this means in practice:

  • You can retake a quiz during the cooldown for practice. You just won't earn points.
  • You can take the same chapter on a different difficulty and still earn. John 3 on Easy and John 3 on Hard have separate cooldowns.
  • After 7 days, the cooldown resets and you can earn from that chapter/difficulty combo again.

This prevents farming points by retaking the same easy quiz over and over, and encourages you to read new chapters or challenge yourself with harder difficulties.

Tips for Maximizing Your Earnings

Read actively, not passively

The quiz questions are based on what you just read. Pay attention to key details, names, events, and themes as you read — it'll show up in the quiz.

Start on Medium, graduate to Hard

If you're new to BibleGate, Medium is a good starting point. The questions are challenging but fair, and you'll earn meaningfully more than Easy. Once you're comfortable, switch to Hard for the biggest payouts.

Don't skip the perfect bonus

The perfect score bonus is significant — it's almost as much as an extra correct answer. Getting 3/3 on Hard earns you 50 minutes compared to 20 for getting 2/3. That bonus is worth aiming for.

Read a variety of chapters

Since each chapter/difficulty combo has its own cooldown, reading different chapters gives you the most earning opportunities. Follow a Journey to always have a new chapter ready.

Use the Verse of the Day and Weekly Chapter

These are bonus earning opportunities on top of your regular reading. They add up over time and help keep your Time Bank healthy even on busy days.

How Quiz Questions Are Generated

BibleGate uses AI to generate contextually relevant questions for each chapter. The questions focus on comprehension — names, events, teachings, and themes from the passage you read. They're not trick questions. If you read the chapter attentively, you'll do well.

Questions are cached so they load quickly, and the generation happens behind the scenes. You'll never wait long between finishing a chapter and starting the quiz.

Start Earning

The quiz system rewards active reading and turns Bible study into something with tangible daily value. The more you engage with Scripture, the more screen time you earn.
